Activities for your 3 to 4-year-old
Once your child has learned to recognise numbers, play number games to include counting and simple math.- Practice counting in ascending and descending order. You can do so while walking upstairs, counting vehicles, or even whilst playing at the playground
- Addition and subtraction can be included in daily activities such as buying groceries or counting toys
Activities for your 4 to 6-year-old
When counting is a breeze, challenge your child to add math to every journey.
- Add up the numerals of bus numbers or license plates when travelling. It’s a great way to pass time, get some friendly competition and practice mental math.
- Practice telling the time by getting your child an analog watch and creating a timetable to follow
Activities for your 6 to 8-year-old
- Being able to handle money effectively is a vital life skill. Get your child familiar with the concept of money, dollars, and cents, and even get the correct change. You can even incorporate budgeting by giving a weekly allowance for him or her to manage.
- Involve your child in baking to reinforce fractions and units of measurement
