Preparing for Primary 1: Is Your Child Ready?

Ease the worry, support the transition. The move from Kindergarten 2 to Primary 1 is one of the most significant milestones in your child’s early education and it often comes with a mix of excitement and anxiety, especially for parents. “Will my child be able to cope with the academic demands? How can I prepare them emotionally and socially? Are they ready to be independent?” If these questions have been on your mind, you're not alone—and this webinar is for you

Date: Thursday, 31 July 2025
Time: 7.30pm to 8.30pm

In this one-hour session, we take a comprehensive look at what it really means to be “Primary 1 ready”, beyond just reading and counting. You’ll walk away with:

  • Academic readiness
We will share MOE-aligned expectations for English and Math. In English, we will cover key areas like listening, reading, speaking, writing, grammar, and vocabulary—alongside engaging sessions such as role-playing, journaling, and vocabulary games. In Maths, we emphasise building number sense, understanding measurement and geometry, and interpreting simple statistics through hands-on experiences and everyday examples.
  • Non-academic readiness
We will discuss the importance of emotional support (talking about feelings and managing anxiety), physical preparedness (building fine motor skills and sleep routines), and social skills (making friends and dealing with conflict). We will also introduce practical strategies to build executive functioning skills—such as planning, time management, and task initiation—through simple routines like packing school bags, using checklists, and establishing consistent schedules.

Throughout the webinar, we will highlight easy-to-implement tips and resources to help parents build confidence and independence in their children, ensuring a smoother and more positive transition to formal schooling.

Who Should Attend?

Parents of children currently in K2 or entering Primary 1 soon—especially those who are:

  • Unsure how to bridge the academic gap before P1

  • Concerned about their child’s emotional resilience and independence

  • Looking for practical tools to build routines and readiness at home

Because readiness is more than just academics. It’s about setting your child up for a smoother, more confident start to formal schooling—while giving you peace of mind as a parent.
